Carter took office in 1977, thus ending the final Vietnam malaise. But alas no, inflation was baked in at that point and it haunted Carter to the point where even if there was no Iran Crisis, the typical Republican inflation would have gotten him.

Jimmy Carter, he won a Nobel Peace Prize for bringing together Israel and Egypt. He should have been celebrated by every American and every person who believes in faith and humanity throughout the world.

Still the WWII veteran who outlasted all of his illustrious contemporaries never gave up. While in office, he put solar collectors on the roof of the White House, he railed on that materialism and consumption should not be the goal in life. Carter never gave up, he just pivoted to become the US ambassador for peace, for his famous Habitat for Humanity house building.
